Lake Naivasha

In August we took Dawn's mom and the whole family to Lake Naivasha for a weekend. Only 2 hours from Nairobi on nice roads, we stayed at a friends guest house that was beautiful. Ryan took Friday as vacation and we had a picnic on Crescent Island, hiked the Island, and headed to the guest house. Saturday we laid low at the guest house situated in a mature acacia forest and very quiet, not even cell phone coverage. Sunday we chartered a boat for an hour and saw the hippos before driving back to Nairobi.

After our picnic lunch, we went on a hike with a guide around Crescent Island. No cars allowed and we were the only ones on the Island. We got close to lots of wild life including gazelles, giraffes, hippos and zebras.

Picture after long hike on Crescent Island.

We went on a one hour boat ride in search of Hippo's.
